A FULLY DIGITAL UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE
PROJECT
The goal of this project was to modernize the mobile and desktop student portal at WGU, which allowed students and staff to access a complete university experience including the registrar’s office, course work, social forums, and exams. WGU catered to students who wanted to continue their education but needed to fit it into their busy lives.
For this project, I updated the user interface visuals and branding, helped to develop a design system with a focus on meeting WCAG AAA accessibility standards, and assisted with user research and wire-framing.

The Work
I created high-fidelity visuals, prototypes, and design systems for the mobile and web student platforms. Below is an example of some of the user flows that would be skinned using the WGU design system. Flows like these were created for all of the main navigational screens and actions.
Design System
The design system was built in collaboration with WGUs internal design team, and my company's UX team.
The updated graphics and stylings would slowly be implemented to update the current student portal, as well as any new web portal instances.
The team used the base system of Atomic Design 'Prime', built with Sketch, shared through Abstract to the broader design team and dev teams. Documentation around the use of these assets and styles was created in Invsions DSM.
