ARQ Wealth
A FINANCIAL WEALTH MANAGEMENT APP
PROJECT
ARQ is a financial consolidation tool that empowers users by giving them greater control of their investments through transparent performance and fee benchmark scores. Using these scores, users can identify funds that are underperforming and make better investment choices.
I was responsible for all aspects of UX and Visual development on this project. This work included client interviews, data analysis, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and final user flows and layout. I developed the company branding, design system, custom illustrations, graphics, and marketing visuals in tandem with this work.

The work
The project consisted of analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, developing feature flows that could solve our user's problems, running iterative tests, and developing the final mobile applications.
The Problem
66% of millennial investors with financial advisors are dissatisfied with their portfolio performance.
Why? Because traditional large investment firms and banks sell their customer's generic investment packages that overlap with multiple other banks and have higher management fees.
Users need a way to take control of their finances and increase their returns with a portfolio that's tailored to meet their needs.
Research & Planning
The goal for this part of the project was to gather unbiased data on how people thought about their finances (sentiments and values). This included how they invested and what was the most painful aspect of investing. This part of the work was completed through surveys and interviews.
We aimed to discover the kind of financial assets users held, if they self-managed their assets or if they had an advisor, what their long-term goals were, how urgently did they need to improve their financial management, and if they had already tried to solve for problems they encountered.

OUR SOLUTION
Better Awareness, better choices, better results
The best way to improve a user's returns would be to find them better-performing funds with high returns and lower fees that fell within their acceptable risk range.
ARQs' solution is to act as a portfolio enhancement toolkit (focused initially on ETFs). It provides an unbiased review of an investor's assets while guiding them to alternative available funds based on an investment strategy that suited their goals and time horizon.
A CYCLE OF IMPROVED RETURNS
User Flows
Our teams' financial expertise and insights into investing came from our CEO and his extensive background in the banking industry. The creative, BA and development teams collaborated on what features could be built to act as a solution to our user's problems.
I mapped out these user flows and screen layouts with wireframes and low-fidelity mockups. There were team reviews held at every stage.

Providing Value
A user could begin to receive value from the ARQ app by setting their portfolio investment strategy and start discovering new high-performing funds.
Further value and personalized recommendations would be available to them after adding their own financial assets to the app for an unbiased evaluation.
Design System
Due to the saturation of the financial app landscape, ARQ needed to stand out from the crowd. The visual design leveraged 3D elements, soft colours, and illustrations to make finances feel humanized but still professional.
Sentiment and preference surveys were conducted to evaluate if the brand matched our target audience's tastes. The design system was built to allow for scalable product growth. This included both a light and dark version of the mobile assets.
